1. Introduction to the topic from Grief Probate Journey

We were approached by a member of The Mesothelioma Center. They reached out to us as they had seen our topic on: Children’s Grief Awareness Week: 17th– 23rd November 2022. Featuring Children’s Grief Foundation of Canada and Grief and Grits. As they could see we share resources for children, they wanted to share some of theirs with us.

We feel it is something that is invaluable and would definitely be useful for our readers. We are happy they found us and we are able to share this as a topic. We ourselves hadn’t heard of mesothelioma cancer and have learnt something for ourselves.

2. Mesothelioma Cancer

“Mesothelioma is a deadly cancer that affects the lining of the lungs, abdomen or heart. The rare disease has no cure, making a diagnosis especially distressing for patients and their families. The goal of treatment is typically to slow the spread of the disease, ease symptoms and extend life expectancy”.

3. A comprehensive guide on how to talk to children about cancer

The Mesothelioma Center at Asbestos.com is the nation’s most trusted mesothelioma resource. Our core purpose is advocacy, awareness, and connecting people to the best mesothelioma resources. For more than 15 years, we have built a community of top doctors, hospitals, experts, and survivors to help guide patients and their families.

As a parent, there will come a time when you will have to have serious talks with your children. Talks about bullying, the birds and the bees, and the ultimate, “What do you want to do with your life?” talk. No one ever prepares you for these discussions, and if there’s a manual out there I haven’t found it yet. These talks are pretty normal, and as a mom of four, I knew they were bound to happen. But what I didn’t know was that one day I would be telling my kids I had mesothelioma cancer.

Our website features the most comprehensive guide on how to talk to children about cancer, to be honest, talking to different age groups, how to be prepared for questions, recommended books to prepare for this talk, and is also medically reviewed by doctors.
