1. Introduction
This is a topic that we will never hesitate to try and help spread and share awareness of. We became aware of this day for the first time last year and made it a priority to do it as a topic. Sight loss runs in our family. This is a result of various medical conditions such as Brain tumours, Diabetes and most recently with our Dad a life-threatening heart condition called Infective Endocarditis. Unfortunately for our Dad, the Bacteria went into his eyes causing him to lose his sight. We have topics on:
The theme for this year is “Love Your Eyes” we resonate with this theme. Our Health and all of our senses are so important and need to be paid attention to. I myself took the plunge and went to the optician this year. I put so much strain on my eyes over recent years that I now have to wear reading glasses. This time last year when producing this topic I was using prescription glasses bought from the chemist. This year I am wearing prescription glasses after having my eyes tested professionally. My sight could have been so much worse, so I am thankful I finally gave myself that push and made the visit.
All of the reasons mentioned above are why we have once again done this as a topic.
