1. Introduction
For my sister and I trying our best to spread awareness on matters that might not necessarily be well known or might not get their rightful platform or attention is what we are all about. Sharing our experience, sharing our knowledge along our journey is our aim.
As soon as we became aware of this, we knew we needed to make this a blog topic. All of our senses are equally as important, but as this month is about vision, we are doing our part to try and create further awareness.
When our Dad was hospitalised in September 2016, he was diagnosed with a life-threatening heart condition called Infective Endocarditis. Unfortunately due to delay and then further misdiagnosis and the bacteria going into his eye’s he lost his sight. This was absolutely devastating to witness. We just cannot begin to imagine what it must’ve been like for our Dad. (We have a topic Infective Endocarditis and Infective Endocarditis and Blindness).
Our Mum many years ago suffered from Iritis at the time we were all worried she might have lost her sight. It was very scary and worrying times. Our Mum could not handle any form of light near her eyes as the pain was excruciating. When going to the hospital she had to put a dark blanket over her to blank out the dalyight from her eyes. Thankfully once this was defected, diagnosed and treated our mum recovered and her sight wasn’t affected. We were all so pleased and overjoyed with this end result. (Iritis is hyperlinked for further information on it).
