1. Introduction
This topic came about purely by chance. When researching for a different topic we came across various grief terms. This was one of them. We explored them all and found similarities and familiarity with all of them. Because of this, we wanted to share this newfound knowledge and make it a topic.
The reason why we could relate to this is that collective grief refers too:
“Collective grief happens when a community, society, village, or nation all experience extreme change or loss. Collective grief can manifest in the wake of major events such as: war, natural disasters, or others that result in mass casualties or widespread tragedy”. (11 Jun 2020).
Straight away when reading just the first few lines our Immediate thoughts were this current worldwide pandemic.
We have been living through this for over one year. And to say it has been a major life-changing event would be a massive understatement.
Life as we knew it felt like it literally changed overnight and it’s never been the same since. We are living in a whole new world and way of life.
It feels like we are living through history. This is what makes it feel so surreal these are thing’s we have seen happen and learnt in history or watched in movie’s, but we have been living it for 13 months. It’s so unreal…
We are living through extreme life-changing life-challenging time’s, but there is hope for better days. Through our blog my sister and I try our very best to bring awareness of matters like this. We were not aware of this term until discovering it by chance. Because it is so relative to what is happening worldwide is why we wanted to share it.
