1. Introduction to the topic
Grief Probate Journey was honoured and privileged to be asked to be part of a 72-Hour Global Grief Conference. We were approached by Tony Lynch from mensgriefsupport within our Grief community.
“Tony o lynch Non-profit organisation: #memoriesofus is a #nonprofit support for men who are struggling with #loss #grief host of memories of us podcast/grief let’s talk about it. memoriesofus.org“.
We are inspired by the work they do. They deal with Men’s grief and Men’s mental health. The reason why we see how great this is is that at the best of times men do not necessarily feel they have safe spaces to talk about emotions, health, and worries. That is why this is highly invaluable. A safe space for men to know it is okay to not be okay, and it is okay to express and talk about it.
When first asked, we do not think we realised the magnitude of what we were about to be part of. We thought it was a podcast interview (which made us feel nervous enough), but we did not realise it was to be live streamed Globally.
We were approached and would regularly have zoom meetings. These meetings were to plan the approach to the weekend, ask any questions, and give suggestions we might have.
After we had the first meeting, it started sinking in what was ahead. We did feel slightly overwhelmed, but we didn’t let those feelings take over, the reason for that. We were approached for a reason. It had been recognised that the work we do could contribute to this project. And this is what we used to boost our confidence and realise we did have something to contribute and could help to make a difference.
But one of the greatest things was meeting and hearing the stories of so many people living through grief worldwide. It was inspiring, heart-warming, and educational to listen to these stories. Before the actual weekend came about, we felt like we had gotten to know one another and had become part of a new community. It was and is a very nice feeling.
On the day of our interview, we suffered a moment of what can go wrong will go wrong. Despite many practice runs which went perfectly, at the moment of us going live we experienced all the technical problems that could be possible. We felt mortified, especially as this was streaming live. By some miracle, we managed to sort out the technical issues and proceed with the interview. It can be seen at the beginning of the interview what we are talking about. We have only just watched the video as for some reason we find it difficult to look at ourselves and hear our voices (hee hee). We hope once you move through the technical issues the interview will be of use to you.
For my sister and I talking about matters related to grief is something we will always be passionate about, so to have this opportunity on a global scale is priceless. The main thing for us was hoping to be helpful to others.

6. Our Final Thoughts
This topic is severely delayed as unfortunately our official Grief Probate Journey Instagram account was hacked in May 2022. We spent months trying to get it back as well as other accounts they hacked into. This entire experience knocked us to our core, with everything else that had gone on leading up to this, this was the final straw. For that reason, we were absent for three months.
What was so empowering for us was the support, guidance, and encouragement from this new community we had become part of, as well as people within the community we were lucky enough to still be in contact with after the hacking.
It is because of this unified support, from friends, family, and the grief community; that we found it within us to make our comeback. We did that in September 2022 and have not looked back since. It was a setback that had physical and mental effects, but we are back and hope to remain for many more years to come.
Love Hugs and Blessings
