1. Introduction to the topic

This month is Sepsis Awareness Month. This is something that my sister and I feel passionate about doing our very best to try and help spread awareness of this condition. It is a serious life-threatening condition.

My sister and I first learnt about this condition after our Dad passed away. Unfortunately, it was only after that we learnt our Dad had this whilst he was an inpatient in the hospital. Because we didn’t know until after the fact, it was even more of a shock for us to process and try to come to terms with.

Our Dad was such a strong man and endured so many health battles in his seven months in the hospital, so for us to learn this was one more thing he went through wasn’t nice.

We share experiences on our blog because we are aware that it isn’t only us who go through the things we do. Other people might have experienced something similar, or know someone who is going through, or been through something similar.

Since we have been doing topics on this, people have shared their stories with us, which we shared on our blog. Because of this, we were honoured to shade the following topics:

Since we started talking about Sepsis Awareness. I myself (Tara) have experienced this condition. I was only in the early stages of it, but I became very ill very fast. Thankfully for me, it was detected and treated very early. Unfortunately however once I healed from the Sepsis, the toxins that it leaked into my system caused the skin on my hands and feet to peel off. I have a topic on this experience and what I went through.

Because of these reasons we will always try and continue to spread awareness on this.

4. Our Final Thoughts

in life we.go through many things. Quite alot of the time these things could be unforseen. An example of this being the worldwide pandemic that was unimaginable.

For my sister and I, the journey we’ve been on for the past seven years was something we never saw coming, nor were we prepared for. As I’ve just counted the years, I can’t quite believe it’s been that many years. Its zoomed on by.

Another unforseen thing is this blog. We have been going for four years now. Throughout, we try our best to remain positive in some sort of way. This is why we are happy we have this blog. A platform for sharing experiences.

For myself, through my journey of the early stages of Sepsis I am now on a new journey and venture with my business selling natural body butters, and lip balm. The reason why I’ve mentioned this is because it is called Dacosta-Joy Naturals. Dacosta was my Dad’s middle name, Joy is my Mum’s middle name. The logo is a nasturtium flower. When our Dad passed away it would grow in a row of three and I would say it represented me, my mum and my sister. Nasturtium is also the flower used for our blog logo. I hope my Dad would be happy and proud with what I am doing. Everything we do is in his honour.

We hope this topic might be of use to those who read it.
